T. Roy Adams Regional Centre for Dementia Care

The T. Roy Adams Regional Centre for Dementia Care specializes in enhancing the lives of older adults living with dementia and behavioural challenges.

Services are provided in a home-like setting, offering clients a warm, safe, and comfortable environment where family and friends are always welcome and encouraged to play an active role in their loved one's life.

A team of caring and dedicated staff with specialized dementia care training and experience take pride in delivering a range of innovative services to meet the unique needs of clients and their families.

Behavioural Support

Services include:

  • Temporary accommodation (up to 90 days) in a home-like setting for 17 people
  • Assessment of clients' emotional, social, environmental and physical needs
  • Individualized treatment and care plans that prepare clients for their relocation to the most appropriate care setting
  • Specialized geriatric and therapeutic services for individuals who are medically stable, meet accepted behavioural requirements and have been diagnosed with dementia
  • Following their stay, clients are placed in the most suitable care setting with appropriate supports. Recommendations for additional treatment and follow-up are provided to caregivers.

Respite Beds

Those requiring nursing services and a short-stay respite can access a respite bed at Linhaven in St. Catharines and at D.H. Rapelje Lodge in Welland. These beds offer flexible time frames and are booked through Community Care Access Centre Niagara by calling 1-866-790-4642 ext. 3515.

Fees for Adams Centre Services

Fees are generally based on Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care rates for short-stay beds.

Dementia Care in our Long-Term Care Homes

Seven of our long-term care homes offer special care areas with additional care and security for individuals with Alzheimer Disease or related dementia.
