The T. Roy Adams Regional Centre for Dementia Care specializes in enhancing the lives of older adults living with dementia and behavioural challenges.
Services are provided in a home-like setting, offering clients a warm, safe, and comfortable environment where family and friends are always welcome and encouraged to play an active role in their loved one's life.
A team of caring and dedicated staff with specialized dementia care training and experience take pride in delivering a range of innovative services to meet the unique needs of clients and their families.
The Adams centre has two distinct areas of excellence - Behavioural Support and Respite Care.
Respite provides caregivers with a much-needed break and peace of mind knowing that their loved one is well-cared for in their absence.
Respite Care services provide temporary services for individuals typically still living at home. Programs focus on enhancing clients' functional abilities and quality of life. Clients must be medically and behaviourally stable and diagnosed to have dementia.
Respite Care services include:
The short-stay program provides temporary accommodation to a maximum of 90 days per year. Following the respite stay, staff will assess the client's needs in returning home, recommending supports as needed.
Clients of the Adams Centre can access an Adult Day Service specifically developed for people with dementia. The program provides appropriate social and physical activities in a small group setting six days a week.
This support program for caregivers offers overnight accommodation at the Adams Centre to older adults with dementia.
