Smoke-Free Ride
The Smoke-free Vehicles law prohibits smoking in vehicles when children under the age of 16 are present.
The law aims to protect children from second-hand smoke, as they are especially vulnerable to its toxic chemicals. Second-hand smoke in vehicles is more concentrated and can be up to 27 times greater than in the home of a person who smokes.
For information about Campaign for a Smoke-free Ride or the dangers of second-hand smoke in the car, call 1-888-344-LUNG (5864) or visit www.smokefreeride.ca.
