Smoking on School Property can Cost You Money

Smoking anywhere on school property could cost you $305

This law applies to:

• Everyone: staff, students, parents, visitors
• Anywhere: parking lot, in cars, sports field, driveway
• Anytime: during school, after school, on the weekend, during summer

Also, selling, supplying or sharing cigarettes with anyone under 19 can result in a minimum fine of $365.

Smoke-Free Ride

The Smoke-free Vehicles law prohibits smoking in vehicles when children under the age of 16 are present.

The law aims to protect children from second-hand smoke, as they are especially vulnerable to its toxic chemicals. Second-hand smoke in vehicles is more concentrated and can be up to 27 times greater than in the home of a person who smokes.
