School Absenteeism Surveillance Program

New: Submit a Daily Absentee Report

Each school is asked to submit a daily report of the number of students who are absent (including those both with influenza symptoms and those without).

Your reports will better prepare us for our upcoming flu season.

Submit Reports before Noon

Schools are encouraged to submit an online report daily before noon. You can no longer report by fax or telephone.

For high schools, report the number of students absent based on first period numbers.

Having an Absentee Rate Greater than 10%

You will receive a call from a Public Health Nurse if your absentee rate is greater than 10%.

You may also have a visit from a Public Health Inspector to review infection prevention and control measures (e.g., hand hygiene; environmental cleaning).
