Community Food Advisors - How do they do this?

Community Food Advisors complement the work of existing nutrition and food safety professionals such as Registered Dietitian and Food Inspectors in the community. The CFAs have lots of flexibility with their presentations and can choose to present independently or as a team.

CFAs are not trained to provide information on such topics as diet counseling, special nutrient needs, diet and disease, and food handling in restaurants and other foodservice establishments. Where information is sought on topics not covered by the CFA program, volunteers are trained to refer consumers to other agencies.
