The Vaccine is over 99 per cent Effective

The HPV vaccine makes cervical cancer a preventable disease.

The vaccine is 99.7 per cent effective in protecting against the four main types of HPV that cause cervical cancer and genital warts.

The Vaccine is Safe

The HPV vaccine Gardasil is given to millions of people in over 110 countries worldwide. After 10 years of study, no serious side effects have been linked to the vaccination.

The vaccine does not contain any antibiotics or preservatives.

There is no risk of getting an HPV infection after taking Gardasil because the vaccine does not contain a 'live' virus.

The Vaccine is Free for Grade 8 Girls

Grade 8 girls in Niagara are offered the HPV vaccine free of charge through school-based immunization clinics.

This fall, your daughter will be bringing home from school an information package and consent form.

While some health insurance plans may cover the vaccination, the out-of-coverage cost could be as high as $200 per dose (three doses are required).
