Securing a Legacy for Niagara’s Agricultural Land:
A Vision from One Voice
An innovative approach to understanding and securing the viability of Niagara's unique agricultural industry is the cornerstone of the Regional Chair's Agricultural Task Force. Representatives of all local agricultural stakeholders came together for a comprehensive understanding of agricultural issues from all perspectives. Their collaboration has resulted in a Discussion Paper that will provide the basis for community consultation, ultimately leading to policy development.
Agriculture contributes $1.8 billion annually to Niagara's economy. What needs to happen to keep this diverse industry vibrant? What do those involved in our agriculture sector think about the future?
As a result of the 2nd Smarter Niagara Summit in November 2002, the Regional Chair organized an Agricultural Task Force to explore various issues and possible solutions surrounding the long term viability of agriculture in Niagara. Public consultation is a key objective of the Task Force with the Discussion Paper - Securing a Legacy for Niagara's Agricultural Land: A Vision from One Voice - providing the foundation to initiate this consultation.
